Program overview. After completing the training, the participant can describe the structure and the mode of operation of compressed air brake systems in trucks, buses and trailers. Upon graduation, attendees can carry out the testing and adjustment of compressed air brakes systems and equipment as well as the resulting maintenance and repair jobs.
The air brakes training generally takes place in small classes over the period of a weekend. Instructors demonstrate the use of air brakes on simulation equipment and prepare individuals to inspect the brakes and other brake related components. Students also learn to make brake adjustments and how to recognize when an adjustment is necessary.
