1. The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Recognized by the ED and CHEA, HLC accredits schools in the central United States, including roughly 1,000 degree-granting institutions.
2. Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) MSCHE accredits public and private institutions in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland.
3. New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) Originally a subsidiary of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), NECHE restructured in 2018 to become a separate entity.
4. Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) SACS accredits more than 13,000 public and private institutions in the southern United States, as well as schools in Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
5. The Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) One of the organizations within the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), ACCJC is recognized by both the ED and CHEA.
